Can you help me with the name of this movie (details inside)?

From what I remember I read in the summary, there is a murder taking place. Three detectives are in charge of the case and each seek for the killer with their own sense of justice. I think it’s an old movie, from 1930s to 1950s. Sorry if there are too few details.

Update: That’s not a black and white movie. It was made between 1970 and 1990.
