Can you recommend some soft rock/singer songwriters in the same vein as Cat Stevens, Jim Croce?

As asked! Please and go HAM on this one. For the sake of discussion lets assume I have no idea who anyone is. And then at the same time assume I know a bunch of singer songwriters so in this sense you would have to really dig deep and throw forward the lesser known artists!
