The meaning of “opposite” depends on an axis of opposition, as well as a definition for the term your opposing.

So if graveyard means a place where bodies are buried, and the axis chosen is the presence of graves, then the opposite of graveyard might be land where no body has ever been buried, or land where no funeral rights have ever been given to a grave. If the axis is type of grave, then an opposite might be “crematorium”. If the axis is location of graves, then the opposite might be an area six feet above the ground.

If the definition of graveyard is night shift, then an opposite might be day shift.

If the definition of a graveyard is a mix of cereals, then the opposite might be homogeneous cereal.
