Do you think wedding online retail can be profitable?

Working for a company/university in HR just isn’t for me. It is a safety net but since I was a kid I’ve always wanted to do my own thing like my family and many of my friends. Seeing their success and seeing more of my friends open up their own thing has really inspired me to just do it.

My boyfriend’s friend has a plastic card company that is very successful just by creating high end plastic cards like membership card or business cards. Google has him in the top 3 on the first page. I wonder how he did it.

Anyway, just still researching. I want something I can try to pursue so I don’t have to quit my job. Do you guys think wedding retail online would be profitable or is it too competitive? Not looking to get rich but make a decent living. If I can make $40,000 that would be a start. It’s how much I make now….

I was brainstorming ideas of what I’m interested in. Interested in weddings and dogs (what girl isn’t?). I was thinking of doing online retail for wedding favors, bridal gifts, and wedding shower gift packages for the bride. Also to sell gently used wedding and bridesmaid dresses and rent some decor. Eventually I would like to have it turn into a community providing discussion forums and also maybe partner up with someone and offer personalized items.

Is this too competitive or even worth a shot? Should I think of something else? Like I said I don’t plan to up and quit my full time job. I fee like something inside me just wants to create something and just grow it.

I plan on researching a bit about search engine optimization and social media marketing. I already know a bit about it because I created a website, Instagram, and Facebook for my parent’s business which now has over 1,000 likes and people even find our business because of it!

So is this worth a shot?
