I’m not sure what you are asking.

There are any number of books – both highly scholarly and more popular – that discuss economics. One of the best basic books is Naked Economics link but there are many more.

But the way to learn about economics is to read the newspaper and business magazines. I would say that 75% of any understanding of economics is simply applying common sense.

Start thinking about where the money goes when you earn it and when you spend it. Who gave it to? Why? Where did they get it? Why did you give it up?
Who benefits by having a certain law or rule? Who are the winners and losers resulting from that law? Does it cost someone money?

Unconsciously you make many economic decisions every day. Watch yourself during the day and see how you fit into the giant economics wheel. Start thinking about it. Practice awareness. That will make your reading more useful.

By the way, I suggest the same awareness for learning about engineering. Look around you. Every single thing you see was either designed by someone using engineering skills or was made by or used machines designed by someone using engineering skills.

Right now, pick up the nearest object and look at it carefully. Why do you think they made it that color? Why that material? Why that size? Why this shape?....
Awareness is the first step.

There is a program on PBS called “Economics USA.”
