Help! How can I get paid in bitcoin and use a bitcoin debit card?

Asked by spadkjf (13points) January 21st, 2017

I want to remain unbanked. I want to get paid anonymously in bitcoin and then use a bitcoin debit card to withdraw fiat currency from an ATM machine. But I don’t know how to do it.

You don’t say where you live, so it is hard to answer.

First of all, you have to find someone willing to pay you in bitcoin. That won’t be in the US, but maybe you can find an employer in another country.

And there are not very many bitcoin ATMs that will convert to real money. I live near San Francisco, and there are only a few.

ATMs are generally owned and operated by banks. I wouldn’t count on finding many banks willing to support something that undermines them.

There was a bitcoin ATM next to my old apartment in Portland at a mall next to the Panda Express. But the fee was bonkers to pull fiat. We are talking 12%.

You might have better luck with https://localbitcoins.com/ but the fee is still a hell of a lot higher than what my bank doesn’t charge me.
