If I’m happy with the cut, 20%. If not, 10–15% (unless it’s a REALLY bad cut, in which case, my haircutter wouldn’t expect a tip if I said something about it). But everybody has his/her own formula.
If the haircut was ‘half-assed”, 20% seems to be too much. I agree with Austinlad’s advice. And it goes the other way as well. My hair got cut this week, and the woman did such an excellent job that she received a $5 tip on a $19 bill. Plus, she’ll get my return business.
Well I shave my head with clippers so doesn’t really apply to me. Although one tip I give myself is, don’t let the wife do it! She used to at one time & well, let’s just say I ended up looking like a victim of Chernobyl :¬( Steady hands baby….steady hands.
@Pied_Pfeffer See I think it’s because I make her laugh, can’t help myself. Even when faced with the threat of losing an eyebrow or two. @lucillelucillelucille Oh my hands wander further south when she’s “toying with my fringe” XD
I shave my head and I can’t even remember how much I paid for a haircut. It cost me that much so I tipped $5 which was more than 20%. You being a woman means you have to pay more and I think 20% is enough.
