What are your favorite free apps?

“Great Question” (1points)

I have an iPod touch and I am tired of the same old apps that I use everyday. Do you know of any useful, entertaining, or interesting apps that are free? Please only suggest clean, appropriate apps.

Hipporemote lite, Last FM, Shazam and Apple remote are my most used free apps.

Battersea Dogs Home have a free app which I look at every day. Of course, it’s only interesting if you like dogs or cats!

Pandora, 5–0 Radio, etc…

Fluther, of course! Of course, you probably already have it…

Stanza is good for free books, there are also a number of free apps for basic foreign language learning.

Pandora, Evernote, Skype, Doodle Jump, Bird Strike, GodFinger, Tap Tap Revenge. (The last four are all games.)

When I relapsed, joined teh Dark Side, and got an iPod Touch, I enjoyed the folllowing:

Deadly Dungeon—card game
Nethack—old-school dungeon-crawler
Dungeon Hunter—Modern dungeon crawl
TuneIn Radio—I liked it better than Pandora
Aji PDF Reader—The best PDF reader I found; the otheres are either slow, crappy, unstable, or some combination of those three
Free App Tracker (and a couple of similar apps)—To find apps that normally aren’t free but are right now due to a sale

Not all of those apps may actually be free, but I never paid one red cent.

Currently, I am kicking it with:

DroidEMU -* I can paly NES, SNES, Genesis, and GB/GBC/GBA games on my phone now :)
Hoccer—Awesome for transfering data of just about any type
Quest!—RPG
Dweller—Nethack clone
Nethack—Every computer made in my lifetime has had Nethack available for it, and there is a reason it’s still around
DoubleTwist—Media player extraordinaire

I have: Pandora (awesome, probably my favorite), Twitter, Yelp (reviews of restaurants etc around you), Sudoku (for those bored moments), Google Maps, Google Earth, Facebook, Fring (multichat client), NYTimes and more (I don’t have my iPod Touch next to me right now).

I wish you had listed the ones you already had so we would know to avoid repeating those.

I also have Epocrates, instapaper and Backgrounder (for multitasking if you have 1st or 2nd gen). Maybe you can load some language learning podcasts on there? Or an app that does something similar?

Instapaper is a good one; I also like Hulu Plus, Audiopress and Fruit Ninja.

I got Just Light (exactly what the name implies), Medscape, and Vision Test today. I also got Bejeweled 2, Doodle Jump, PDF Reader and Medical Advisor but those are paid apps. Yep, I’ve been busy.

Oh and did I mention Netflix has a free app now so I can watch it on my iPod Touch? I can officially say goodbye to doing anything productive ever again in my life.

@PnL Wow, thanks for all the great answers!
