@wundayatta Why anyone bothers to pay attention is what baffles me. Some people are motivated by competition. Some are motivated by collecting. Others are motivated by completing a checklist.
@papayalily So, there’s a checklist that they give you to see if you should be further evaluated for OCD. On it are things like “turning keys multiple times”, “repeatedly washing hands”, and “fascinated with own poo”. The poo one is really heavily weighted and counts for more than a lot of the others. There is a lot more to being diagnosed as OCD than a list of tasks one is obsessed with checking or doing. I’ve turned the car around more than once to check to make sure the iron is off, the door is locked and the garage door is closed. They are just about a piece of mind. After working with someone who was diagnosed with OCD, it takes on a whole new meaning.
@YARNLADY and @wundayatta I don’t equate Lurve or awards to Monopoly. The goal of Monopoly is to competively win. There is no competition on Fluther, as far as I can see; it is self-generated. If a Jelly is motivated by Lurve or awards, they need to, a.) stick around for the long haul, b.) ask well-crafted questions and answers, and/or c.) manipulate the system.
