When do you think they can make a machine to erase memories?

You know, like in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. In fact just like that movie. I have about 2 years of memories I’d like to erase at the moment, because they’re just haunting the crap out of me and I haven’t had a “happy” moment in weeks. When do you think they might be able to actually come up with something like that? .... Or do they have something like that per chance?

They had that before, a lobotomy. I wouldn’t wish that kinda shit on my worse enemy.
Even if everything you feel is bad, at least it’s something, something that reminds you that you’re alive. And when you realize that, it’s never the end to potential better times, at least until you die.

And as bad as some were, I would rather be taken by the Reaper than to loose my memories.

These memories are a lot more like nightmares at the moment.

I just don’t see the point in it all…. I really wish that machine existed.

@tedd I understand where you’re coming from, but even some nightmares have valuable lessons in them. I have many, many bad memories myself – but they’re part of what shaped me into who I am today. They made me a better person, even though what I went through was hell. But I came out stronger. You just have to keep that in mind.

For awhile, people said that propranolol could erase memories if taken quickly enough, but it’s not really correct. It can help you be less traumatized by the event so it doesn’t haunt you as much, but it can’t erase the memory.

Not gonna happen. You’ll never be able to selectively erase a specific memory. They’re all connected.

This exists already, but its application is unethical.
