I agree, they were pretty awesome. Supposedly they broke up because of a six year, nonstop cycle of touring and recording. Basically, built up tension toward each other and exhaustion. A few of the member also had some pretty outrageous drug habits as well.

Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López were the two who started The Mars Volta while the rest of the band started Sparta. I never was too much of a fan of Sparta but The Mars Volta is awesome.

There’s a possible reunion in the works. It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything on it though. At the rate that bands are going for getting back together these days, it might actually happen.

Cool, that’s the kind of info I was looking for. I agree The Mars Volta are awesome, I’ve seen them play live, they rock.

I have had 4 bands in my lifetime. some band members and their gossip, is worse than a ladies garden party. instead of thinking collectively as a band, some members get the bighead and want to strike out on their own.
