I don’t know that there’s a setting that will clear up static, but I’ve found (with several different headsets/microphones) that the issue is often a less-than-perfect connection in the mic port.
I have an almost-new headset that refuses to work properly with Vent, although it works fine when I test it. I’m currently using an older one that, I guess, has a better connection.
