Is eye cream worth the money?

“Great Question” (1points)

I went to the makeup store to buy eyeliner and the saleswoman there asked what kind of eye cream I use to moisturize. When I told her I don’t use eye cream, she seemed shocked. She acted like it is a staple – and as if every woman should use eye cream to prevent wrinkles. However, when she showed me the eye creams, they were all upwards of $50. I’m look young for my age and don’t have any wrinkles yet, but wonder if eye cream is indeed as important as she said, or just a way for the cosmetics company to make a lot of money with a specialty item. So: Is eye cream worth it? Does it actually work to prevent wrinkles? And if so, are there any natural (paraben-free) brands that you would recommend? Thanks!

I believe they don’t work although I may be wrong.

Eye cream is worth it. Olay has one for $12.99 and Avon has excellent prices on theirs.

Yup, she was scamming you. If you’re looking for natural stuff, head to your local health food store and go to the lotions aisle. Then you can pick what’ll work for you.

@marinelife You think they help?

Not worth $50 or more. The Olay ads say that their product is preferred to almost all of the other, more expensive brands, so that’s what I’d use. Now you’ve got me wondering if I should start using an eye cream.

@janbb The Avon one that I use has reduced my wrinkles.

@marinelife Sold – which one is it?

Aren’t you supposed to use collagen cream/moisturizer to keep wrinkles away? I’m a dude and still relatively young so this is not something I worry about, but I’m curious to learn about this. Also, will the Avon cream actually reduce wrikles, or just hide them?

I’ve been using eye cream since I was 18. I think it’s important, but that doesn’t mean you need one that is $50 or more. But it is your face… and that’s kinda important, to me at least. Also, you can go to Sephora and get some samples, they’ll give you multiple that will last you for a while…

Personally, I don’t think they are worth it. From what I’ve read there is no real difference between a $50 cream and a $10 dollar one. If the $50 dollar ones worked then I would be seeing many mature women with youthful (no wrinkles) skin.

I think it is important to keep your skin hydrated but you can do that with lotion that is $10 or less.

I’m 47 years old and I can tell you that eye cream has been worth it for me. I quit using it for a while and saw a difference immediately. When I started back again, the small lines and wrinkles I was getting went away. So, for me, most definitely. That said, the best one I’ve ever used is by Avon (Clinical Eye Lift). It’s not expensive to begin with and can be had even less expensively through Ebay.

You should moisurize around your eyes.

If you’re looking to reduce wrinkles, pick one with a retinoid. (Remember to wear sunscreen) You don’t have to pay $50 for them in order to work.

At first glance, I thought it said “ice cream” to which the answer is: “Good ice cream is always worth the money!!”

Doesn’t moisturizing plump and fill the wrinkles somewhat? I thin the alpha hydroxy-based formulas are supposed to be fab in this regard.

You could ask Eva what she thinks would help.

I just recently started using it again. After stopping for a while (lazy) I think my eyes started looking worse – saggier and baggier. I don’t have any wrinkle yet, but my skin definitely does not have the elasticity it did when I was younger. Still, I’m not sold on paying much for those tiny jars.

I love, love, love Avon’s liiv botanicals Vitalizing Eye Cream with SPF 15. I have also used Avon’s PM Solutions Maximum Moisture Eye Cream with very good results.
