Sorry to hear you’re bummed… and I hope the trip went well.
When I get into a slump like you describe it’s usually because I feel like things aren’t going quite my way, like life is just kind of washing over me. I tend to get down when I sit back and the hits just keep coming.
I usually break out of it by evaluating where I’m at and where I’m headed, deciding what of those things is keeping me off balance and then going on the offensive to change it. Basically going from “waiting” to “attacking the problem” gets me back to feeling hyped and even if it doesn’t go well right away at least I’m moving.
Sometimes that initial push doesn’t wrap things up, but at least I can get a feel for the small victories and then reevaluate from there. Sometimes it’s as easy as using my free time to do things I truly enjoy rather than just always going with what’s easy or relaxing.
You’re intelligent, driven, and capable. You’ve overcome times a lot harder than a “slump” and you have a bright future. It sounds corny but sometimes just remembering the basics can change your perspective enough to get that inspired feeling back.
Ohhh, and sunshine, it’s winter, get some sun. ~
