Digital laser prints of 16X20 inch photos can cost $60 to $145 to print. Good quality prints require high res digital photos. High res will be 12.8 mega pixels and higher, not your thumbnail that you find on the internet.

Maybe you make your own art take a class at local college? ? ? Fabric on wooden frames.

To print an image on plexiglass is going to cost about what a print would cost. If you’re talking about taking internet images and using as enlarged printed pieces, that won’t work because the resolution of online images is equivalent to 72 dpi and you’re going to need at least 300 dpi for a digital image to get a decent look. As you enlarge the image, the dpi decreases.

It’s really the framing that runs up the cost of pictures, not the prints. You can hit a museum shop and get great unframed posters for $10 – $35. It’s the framing and the matting that add to the cost.

Are you striving for a “decorated” look or ecclectic? I have found wonderful pieces at college and high school art sales, regional art sales and even consignment stores, as well as framing children’s art. I frame everything in black with cream matting; this way, pieces can be moved about and will work with eachother. I recently had a concert poster framed at a national chain craft store. Instead of doing a custom frame, I chose a standard frame. Framing was on sale, and I had 50% coupon from the newspaper. The picture cost me $20 for the print, and $30 for framing.

If you like birds, here are some really high-res ones:) I think plexiglass and photo paper look good, normal paper doesn’t.

And I second the idea of going to thrift stores and rummage sales and garage sales to find artwork. Here is an example of someone’s really nice find. I’ve found several fabulous things, but the trick is to go often (or to have some type of theme or color scheme in mind when you go).

Search for “Vinyl wall sticker decals” on Etsy, I think it’ll be perfect for what you want.
