Any jellies well-versed in Adobe Reader (see details)?

I have been using an editable PDF (SSA-X2 D&D Character Sheet v3.0a18) for a couple years now without incident. Just recently, however, it has been giving me an error message that I can’t seem to get rid of. Every time I try to input information into an editable field, I receive this message:

*Warning: JavaScript Window -

Invalid date/time: please ensure that the date/time exists. Field [ date_modified ] should match format mmmm d, yyyy*

and it redirects me to the bottom of the 6th page in the document. I’ve edited every setting I can find, reset the sheet, and even reinstalled Adobe reader, and still the problem persists. Can anyone help shed some light on this problem?

Have you tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling? Also, you might check to see if you have the latest drivers for your computer.

Have you tried opening it using an alternate reader like Foxit or Sumatra to make sure it’s not something wrong with the document itself?

I’ve used the same editable PDF on Adobe Reader myself without any problems. High five, fellow D&D enthusiast! The problem you’re describing makes me think that somehow the file may have gotten corrupted or something. Can you open other editable PDFs in Reader without getting that message? If so, you may need to delete that particular file and get a new copy. I have it if you need a copy.

I’d also try doing what @sinscriven suggested and trying the file in another reader, or on another person’s computer.

Because this is a date/time problem, it makes me wonder if it has something to do with the same Y2k11 glitch that made the alarm clock function on every single iPhone stop working temporarily. But it’s probably not. If the problem continues in spite of the suggestions listed here, I’d suggest contacting Adobe directly. As much as I hate to suggest that… getting solutions from Adobe directly is like pulling teeth. I’m sorry.

Adobe sucks that way. They have continual updates and no doubt you downloaded an update that your file doesn’t like. See if you can find an earlier version of Adobe, uninstall your current version and install the older one.

I use the program Heroforge for my D&D character sheets, although it gets confused sometimes with higher level characters and magic item tweaking.

@Austinlad I uninstalled reader and reinstalled the latest version. No dice.

@sinscriven I tired PDF-XChange Viewer, but it doesn’t even recognize half the fields on the file as editable. I haven’t tried the two you suggested though…

@ParaParaYukiko I had a friend email me his copy of the file, since all mine were having the same problem. It worked fine for about 5 minutes, then started feeding me the same error message.

@Rarebear never heard of it, I’ll have to give it a look
