@ladyv900 Oh. I had not even understood that you meant the word ghetto is offensive. Good you explained. I guess that word has evolved. Maybe ghetto has a more negative connotation, and now the assumption is black ghetto. Even though, of course you are right the word was used for Jewish ghettos and others in the past. I would have to look up the definition in the dictionary to know how it is defined now. For sure it means a poor area I would guess, as opposed to just a section of town that has a lot of similar people living in it. And it also implies they are sort of separate from the rest of the community or adjacent society I guess. I never thought about it. Interesting. People are too easily offended. Stick around fluther the people here are wiling to discuss difficult topic without getting personally all wound up in a knot. Well, for the most part, there are exceptions on fluther of course.
