What type of wine should I get?

I’m making lasagna for my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day and I want to get a nice red wine to go with it. I don’t really know anything about wines and would appreciate any suggestions.

Well an Italian red would be a goog place to start. Chianti would be a good choice as it goes with pretty much any food you care to throw at it. Alternaively a cabernet sauvignon would be a good choice. This grape is widely grown so you can pick one up from pretty much any wine producing country you care to choose including Italy (although they often blend it with other varietes). It goes very nicely with food but can still be drunk on it’s own after the meal.

i guess working at CARRABBAS will help here….get a bottle of Chianti,or Montepulciano ..we had to take wine classes,,so these wines both pair with pasta dishes pretty well…enjoy..

A cabernet is a little too heavy and strong for lasagna. If you’re looking for a domestic wine, try a zinfandel or a pinot noir.

Jaboulet “Parallel 45”. A great Cotes du Rhone at a low price. Appealing to almost every taste. A rich red that will compliment your pasta dish, but not so heavy or tannic that it will put off the casual wine drinker. Trust me on this one.

A Sangiovese would be an excellent choice.

I love Merlot with my pasta. We’re always stocked with Franzia in my house. It’s cheap box wine, but it tastes good. If you’d rather not get a box, other good inexpensive options are Yellowtail, Corbett Canyon, or Sutter Home.

I do have a favorite wine called Menage a Trois which is a blend of zinfandel, merlot and cabernet which is also very very good with pasta.
