I know that times are changing and one thing I hear a lot of is ” I don’t care” from most young adults and even my own teenages from time to time. Most of the time they seem angry with life.

hormones.

And to be fair, there is a lot to be angry about these days.

when i go out into the city on say, a saturday night (yeah, in my john travolta suit) i always feel this negative vibe from youngsters all around me, over here it’s mainly caused by racial tension and booze and drugs, ofcourse the growing up counts as well, but, im only 21, and i’ve never felt any anger towards my fellow partygoing teener…

i guess it’s the age..(of the kids, and of wich we live in)

Maybe it’s the poles reversing.

i think it has more to do with ipod nano’s internet hack…

In an age of information, ignorance still rules.

I agree, hormones play a big factory in it but not always.

the poles are reversing ha ha!

But yes. I think they have way too much freedom now, and adults are afraid to take the good old belt to their asses

To an adult, the life of an average teenager seems so simple and I think it’s easy to forget just how much stress you’re under during those years. Socially I’d say it’s probably the most stressful time in your life because everything from what you wear to who you associate with is viewed under a microscope and word travels fast through a high school hallway.
To make matters worse, you’re still trying to figure out just who you are and what you believe (something you’ll not quite get a grip on for another 5 or so years if you’re lucky and self-aware) and you don’t yet have the emotional tools and mental capacity to make solid, positive decisions.
The icing on the cake is that during all of this awkwardness, you’re told that the decisions you make now will affect you for the rest of your life- and they will. You don’t get another shot at this.
In all honesty, as the expected lifespan of humans grows to 100 plus years, I think it’d be wise if we re-thought our education system. Push everything back 10 or so years and just let kids be kids. If I could have attended what would essentially be high school now in my 20’s, I’d actually be be the student I had the potential to be 10 years ago because I have a good grip on who I am now and what I want in life- something I was completely lost on then.

Maybe its because there are more kids taking medication these days

its because of all of the crap thats happening everywhere around us. The world is slowly getting worse, from political views to environmental views, and for some reason we’re gonna have to deal with it in OUR future.
And if that wernt enough we’re also dealing with huge amounts of stress, both socially and acedemicaly. I am 13 and I think many teenagers have good reason to be angry with life.
amounts of stress, both socially.

Rebellion! Rock music says UNITE! Down with the man! Kill whitey! Ring a bell?

Just kidding, I love rock…..and almost everything else.

On a serious note, maybe it has to do with a high divorce rate, parents not being around, tv, internet, something in the water/food or plain boredom. It could be anything you want it to be. This is coming from a 21 year old male, and I went through it, but I’m good now. ;)
