Any neat ideas for a "Gender Reveal Party"?

“Great Question” (2points)

We’re throwing a get-together with our friends and family to reveal the gender of our second child. I think it’s a great idea since we won’t be having a baby shower for the second child (generally thought of as tacky where I live) so this is an opportunity to still celebrate with our friends.

So far I have thought of having the secret envelope containing the gender sent to the bakery and asking for either a pink strawberry cake or a white cake with blue food coloring depending on the gender, along with gender neutral icing. So, everyone finds out once we cut into the cake. I could also ask everyone to wear pink or blue depending on their guess, or maybe just have a board set up where people can cast their guesses.

Do any of you have any great suggestions that you’ve seen work well?

FYI, your baby has a sex not a gender.

Pin the blanket on the baby? Not a real baby, of course. Your ideas are good.

I like the cake idea. If you don’t want to go with the colored cake, you could have them decorate the cake with the colored icing for a boy or girl and make sure it’s in a box that you can’t see into, then opening the box would reveal the surprise.

I like the idea of having people guess by either having a board to write on or by wearing pink/blue. Maybe you could have prizes for the people that are right (though it would be hard to plan for how many people are right).

wow, as one with a second on the way I really like the idea of this kind of party (when I saw the title I thought it had to do with something totally different but I won’t go there). Pity we already told everyone it is going to be another boy. I too, like the cake idea and the idea of having people dress in the different colors.
