Why is Coca-Cola so incredibly satisfying?

I know it’s not the caffeine, because no other soda hits the spot like Coke does. There’s just something about it that screams satisfying. Many other people seem to feel the same way.

What’s so special about Coke?

I’m a Pepsi person myself. Coke does no such thing for me

It’s advertising and Caramel are the only difference from Pepsi… but Pepsi is rumored to have something for the stomach digestion in it… Personally I alternate between the two when I get sick of drinking one.

I dunno, I feel the same way though! And did you ever notice Coke tastes even better when paired with good food?

FutureMemory's avatar

Pepsi tastes too sweet to me, and somehow not as ‘complete’. The last time I drank Pepsi I couldn’t even finish it!

There was a point in my life that I was so addicted to Coke I had a taxi service deliver a six pack in the middle of the night (I don’t drive). Fifteen bucks for a sixer…

@FutureMemory I can only drink Pepsi from the can, or fountain Pepsi. It’s too funky for me otherwise XP

blueiiznh's avatar

It screams sticky sugar syrup to me.
I am not a soda drinker.
I wouldn’t ever put is near my bourbon either.

FutureMemory's avatar

@Joker94 Oh yes, the ultimate way to enjoy Coke is with your favorite meal, served in a glass container with a few ice cubes. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

chyna's avatar

@blueiiznh What do you drink your bourbon with?
I’m a pepsi girl myself, but my mom swore the little bottles of coke tasted much better than the big bottles.

Joker94's avatar

@FutureMemory I couldn’t have summed it up any better.

blueiiznh's avatar

@chyna nothing but glass, ice and my lips touch my bourbon

Last time that I had a Coke was 6 years ago. Too sweet for me now.

At the time, what an awesome thirst quencher. Like you said, not as sweet as Pepsi and, really, it has a better taste.

I’m not a big soda drinker (the only thing I drink nowadays is water and rootbeer!) but when I do, I prefer Coke. Not sure why other than it just tastes better than Pepsi.

It’s delicious ambrosia straight from the succulent orifices of the Gods. Sweet, sweet nectar…

Anyone who doesn’t like Coca Cola hates America, makes the Baby Jesus cry, is an evil communist, kills babies, doesn’t love their mother, has herpes, etc. al.

Except for @Jude.

@FutureMemory, thank you, sir.

Because brainwashing actually works.
The averagely ok taste of cola is vastly improved through a bombardment of subliminal influence.
Coca Cola Tastes Awesome, its cool, gives you youth, happiness, independence.
Just do a 20 min google surf on ‘Neuromarketing and Coca cola’ or ‘brainwashing coca cola’

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

I actually prefer Pepsi – I find it more refreshing, it has more of a tang, and sits better on my tummy.

FutureMemory's avatar

@Odysseus Uh, no. I gave it up for five years, without any changes in my exposure to mainstream media. Cute theory though.

cynicaldeath's avatar

I think its that…kind of “spicy” feeling that you get on your tongue when you drink it. Well, that’s just me, maybe I’m crazy.

Odysseus's avatar

@FutureMemory , I gave up my mommas breast when I was one but the emotional attachment to boobs lives on :)

FutureMemory's avatar

@Odysseus haha can’t argue with that one.

@cynicaldeath You might be on the right track..that sorta spicy feeling is nice…

hmmm, I LOVE COCA COLA but then i also love pepsi max. I dont like the mormal pepsi though… way too sweet.
maybe it’s because coke was the first one to come out and is the original recipe or something.

rooeytoo's avatar

Only a coke will do. And @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard, you are exactly 100% correct.

I try not to drink it too often because it is so full of sugar but when I treat myself OMG, it is soooo good.

I don’t know why, it just is!

ucme's avatar

Because it’s “the real thing.” Roughly translated as, you get more bang (fizz) for your buck. No brainer really.

sarahjane90's avatar

I love coke – but have to say diet coke is terrible. Sadly I only drink diet sodas, I feel too guilty consuming all those empty calories. I have found personally that diet pepsi tastes less diet than diet coke, but if I had to drink non diet coca cola would be my first choice! It does taste wonderful :-).

mrlaconic's avatar

I agree with @FutureMemory and would go as far to say there is nothing as satisfying as an ice cold coca-cola. It has nothing to do with advertising or brainwashing. There is something about that “BAM” that hits you when you open a can and take a sip… you don’t get that with pepsi or other colas.

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

Well, according to @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard I hate America, make the Baby Jesus cry, am an evil communist, kill babies, don’t love my mother, and have herpes, (only 3 of those are really true ~) because I just don’t see what all the fuss is about with Coke, Pepsi, or any other type of pop. In fact, all I want to do after drinking a pop is brush my teeth. Blech.

Seelix's avatar

I prefer Coke from a fountain but Pepsi from a can. (shrug)
