Hell yeah man, I love gore. Fictional violence rocks, especially in horror movies. Nothing wrong with that at all, and it is satisfying. Incidentally, I’m a complete wuss when it comes to real life footage of people getting killed or tortured. (you can find a lot of that on the net) What freaks me out is the sounds people make, rather than what I see, (although that sucks too) so that’s where I, personally, figured out that rooting for the antagonist or the zombies in a horror flick and seeing people getting ripped or stabbed to shreds doesn’t make you crazy, or a sadist or whatever. Movie gore is usually too retarded and unrealistic to match reality nearly enough. (also most movies completely disregard what it might look like for real, or what people sound like when they die, for that matter)
Some may argue about the intent or the thoughts that goes on in your head if you happen to love seeing people get fucked up, but really it’s no different than worshiping Darth Vader or something. Horror movies are supposed to be fun, with stupid gore and cheesy thrills and scares, and sometimes brainfuck. They’re not meant to traumatize people. I’d enlist in a war if I wanted that. I wouldn’t worry about it much.
You’re talking about gallons of blood gushing out and innards blowing sky high. I assume we’re leaving out movies that attempt to be more serious or realistic. Even that’s alright though, especially when they’re completely failed b movies haha.
Anyways. To enjoy gore is absolutely not unheard of, and whether one thinks it good or bad, it has become standard in the movie industry. And it’s harmless and doesn’t make you crazy or abnormal or anything. As @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard mentions, someone who may genuinely seek to act this out for real needs help. But actually, in many of the cases where something like this may have occurred, if the movie had gore, that element was the last thing in the person’s mind when it came to motivation and influence, at least according to most documentaries I’ve seen. Most people know it’s exaggerated, and in lots of cases, that’s why gore fans love it.
