I’m not one of those people that start talking/acting like a person/group after being immersed; I try to be my own person (which I am obviously inspired by some one/people). My family is kind of like this, though, especially my dad’s side. Whenever we are at a reunion, they always pick up on others’ phrases, etc…most of the times I notice it is picked up from me, and then I look like the idiot. I find it funny because I know that those certain people have just started using those different words/jargon, and usually there are a few certain (obscure) words/phrases that I find are used mostly during the span of time that I see them. I tend to be a little too observant
I have lived in boston for a majority of my life, and i have not picked up on the accent. I was born in Providence, and lived their for the first threeish years of my life. I would say that I have more of a Rhode Island accent, if any at all. My uncle married a woman from georgia who is black, and he has picked up on the way that they talk.
