Funniest movie monsters, some examples are?

“Great Question” (2points)

Asked in the style of Yoda, for reasons known only to myself. Screen monsters that turned out to be anything but scary is what i’m after here. Pathetic excuses masquerading as vicious beasties. This may be down to lack of budget or technological know how. Answers on a postcard please, or on these pages if you prefer. I’m not at all fussed.

Mothra with the three tiny singing Japanese ladies.

The killer sheep embryos (looked like Shari Lewis’ lambchop with teeth)in Black Sheep.

The Giant Gila Monster
But on the other hand I think most Japanese/Chinese monster movies are funny.

And the mushroom monsters in Attack of the Mushroom People (a.k.a.. Matango and Fungus of Terror) are pretty funny. The link is to the trailer which is pretty hilarious itself but if you just want to see the mushroom people they come in at about 1:55.

I can’t remember the name of the movie but the monster was a mean tree that could walk.
I have loved lumberjacks ever since.

@lillycoyote Crap, but they look like fun-guys to me! I’m sorry, that was shameful of me. I promise not to do it again…...much.

@lucillelucillelucille Could it have been this masterpiece?

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@ucme OMG.Yes! I just peed my pants XD

@ucme Oops! I thought the question was “Fungiest movie monsters, some examples are?” I need to read things more carefully.

@lucillelucillelucille Well now that’s unfortunate! It gave me wood….. which came as a bit of a shock :¬/

I think a whole thread could be devoted just to Dr. Who monsters…say hello to my MIL Slitheen after a ½ a bottle of red wine.

There was this movie my mom rented when I was younger. I think it was called the Quest. The “monster” in the movie was literally a mechanical crane (used to move large objects) covered in weeds and swamp stuff to make it look like a monster. The creators of the movie did a horrible job, I’m going to assume they didn’t get much funding.

I love the Skeleton and mutant in The Lost Skeleton of Cadavera. And though I haven’t managed to see it yet I suspect the Screaming Foreheads are divine as well.

@marinelife I really wanted to love Black Sheep, but even with it’s moments of brilliance it just didn’t work for me :(

@Cruiser I immediately thought of Doctor Who as well (who doesn’t love being menaced by a sink plunger?) but I’ll let them slide since that’s primarily a small screen masterpiece.
