Thank you everyone. I always try to take the serious questions seriously and give my best (although often long and detailed) answers based on my own experiences, or by offering up solutions that worked for close friends and relatives. I also try to offer suggestions on what kinds of things to avoid so that you don’t hurt yourselves or anyone else. I also try to do my home-work and my research about certain topics and not just pop off answers off the top of my head. Sometimes people don’t want the full information and that’s OK, they don’t have to read it, but I always want to offer the option of delving into the subject matter a little bit further, whether it’s by linking a recipe, or linking info from a reputable medical site.

I also try to answer the less serious questions (and games and contests) in a way that is at least slightly amusing and may give some of the other Fluthers a little laugh. I would hate to be considered boring or irrelevant.

I love words and I enjoy the verbacious inter-play we all enjoy here on Fluther. Some of you guys have given answers that have made me spit milk and I thank you for that.

I have been blessed with enjoying some very sweet and intimate (and sometimes hilarious) conversations with some of you by PM. And you know who you are. I hope that I have been able to offer some kind of insight or at least a place of comfort for you. Some things in life are really sucky, but it’s nice to be able to share the suckiness with someone else who understands what it’s like.

I also have a handful of Go-To Flutherites (and you know who you are) who I often PM to help me out with particularly tough cases. You guys always jump right onto the thread and pitch in and I thank you for that! I have learned that even though I may have a lot of information, sometimes the messenger (sometimes me) isn’t the right one, but if enough other great Fluthers get involved, they can often turn a bad situation around.

I’m also grateful to all of you for putting up with my long, detailed answers. That’s just how I operate and I can’t seem to help it. Why post one recipe when you can post 20!

And thanks to the mods, especially @Augustlan for being helpful, courteous and trying to keep us all safe and on the right track.

And thanks to those of you who have remembered that I am a vegetarian, love cheese and cooking and cats and Alan Rickman. And I especially thank those of you that have allowed me to indulge my love of The Nanny.

I hope to continue to spend a lot of quality time here on Fluther, laughing and crying and trying to do the best I can to give thoughtful, insightful and hopefully helpful answers. And to have a little bit of fun along the way.

So now, I’m going to go up stairs, slip into my hawaiian print mummu with my little flip flops with the daisies on them, attempt to get my hair up into one of those bumpits and put on a little grapefruit scent and head down to the party. So bust out the wine coolers and the Funyuns!

OMG! You guys will not believe who I saw in the hallway, when I was heading down towards the pool! Charles Shaugnessy and Fran Drescher! Thank you lord! Too bad no one had a camera : (

If I may ask, in what state are you?

Kardamom's avatar

@Brian1946 When I saw Charles and Fran, I was in a state of shock, then in a state of euphoria! I’m still holding out hope that one of you invited Patrick Stewart to this soiree! Are yo listening @seazen???

But if he can’t come, I’d be thrilled to swap recipes with James McAvoy or Michelle Kwan.

Congrats on the 10 k. I will go to the spice cupboard right now and have a taste in your honor. ... Did it ! And washed it down with Green tea.
It was from 2001. I wonder if it gets better with age.

Kardamom's avatar

@worriedguy The best way to taste Cardamom, for which my avatar name was chosen, is in Indian Rice Pudding called Kheer. Just ask @queenie. She said her mom makes it. They usually have it for dessert at Indian buffets. I would be happy if we could fill the mansion’s swimming pool with it and eat our way out.

I just hope that I get better with age ;-p

augustlan's avatar

Congratulations, @Kardamom! You have been a great addition to our community. :)

MilkyWay's avatar

@Kardamom Lol, I never thought you’d remember that little detail ^-^
Yes, my mum makes that dessert. It is absolutely, salivatingly delightful. Good idea, I’ll get my mum to make some now, then you can fill the pool up with it ;)

I can tell just by looking at an answer that you have written it. You must have the strongest
fingers (next to wunday“s) in the collective. Plus, you always make so much sense.

aprilsimnel's avatar

Hooray! I am so happy you’ve made the it to the mansion! Congrats, @Kardamom!

Kardamom's avatar

This day has really been joyous for me. Thank you all for coming. And thanks to @WillWorkForChocolate for remembering my brief (but very public) meeting of Val Kilmer.

And yes, @janbb, me and @wundayatta could probably tie in a type-off. It’s funny because he and I tend to arrive at questions at the same moment, so he’s either right before or right after me. I think both of our minds tend to work as a stream of consciousness thing, although I tend to wait a long time before I push answer. I often tone down my first phrases and I often find myself asking, what would wundy think.

@queenie, I will never forget about your mom and the kheer. It’s just such an unusual thing, and when you mentioned that your mom made it, I now think about you (and your ankle) and your mum, everytime I eat it.

@Symbeline, I love your quirky, brilliant viewpoint on things and you’ve put a beautiful feminine face onto zombies and chainsaws and vampires. I love that you will often go way out in another direction to come up with interesting subjects (most recently WWII) that most people your age would have no interest or knowledge about. It gives me hope for the future.

Thanks to everybody for being so nice to me, even though we don’t always agree. And thanks to all of you for helping me to find my “sea legs” on Fluther.

Don’t forget to pick up your goodie bags after the party. Inside is a CD boxed set of seasons 1–3 of The Nanny (the rest are not yet available). A wheel of really good Gouda cheese. A book of my favorite vegetarian recipes. A mix tape with Libera, Oasis, The Beatles, Celtic Women, U2, The Monkees, Astrud Gilberto, John Williams, Yo-yo Ma and the theme music from Star Trek Voyager. Plus a package of Starbursts, a jar of Kraft Pimento Cheese Spread and a steaming hot tray of nachos. And a xerox of an autographed photo of me posing with Patrick Stewart, Alan Rickman, Michelle Kwan and Fran Drescher. Say cheese!

Berserker's avatar

Damn man, that’s quite the goodies bag right there. Those crappy bags I got at the store when I was little that just had baseball cards and leftover hard as rock caramel from Halloween cannot compare to pimento cheese and Star Trek. Hell yeah.
And thanks much for the kind words. :) WWII is depressing as shit. But it’s so much more complicated than I ever thought. But people have to know about this, and you’ve been a great help, among others, in helping me finding movies and information about it, which is another reason you’re awesome. :)

Kardamom's avatar

Wow, who’da thunk that Bin Laden would have been killed on this day? One of my close friend’s birthdays falls on 9/11 and I was with him at work on the day that the towers were struck. I always felt bad for him because everyone reviles the day that he was born. Maybe he’ll be having a little celebratory drink this evening.

Let’s have a moment of silence for those who died during 9/11 and those who have given their lives in the service of our country. And please let our country and our allies come back together to be and be a cohesive, unified entity. All we’ve got is each other.

Thanks everybody, for my special day!
