How can I create "no impact"?

On thursday I’m having lunch with “No Impact Man,” Colin Beavan. I’m part of a Gaia Sustainibility Collective at my school (pretty much a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle club) and Colin will be giving a talk to our whole college about his year of having no impact and how others can start a similar process in their own lives.

Right now I’m in the process of making lots of flyers to advertise around campus (we plan on using the backs of pre-used papers which were tossed in the recycling bin). I’m hoping to make a flyer for each area of our campus that applys specifically to that environment and how one can create “no impact” on it. For example: if the flyer is in a dorm bathroom, it will have a list of things you could do, such as, “turn the water off when you’re brushing your teeth,” or suggestions for products that are better for the environment.

Anyway, these are the following places I’m looking to put flyers up, and I was wondering if you could help me come up with other ideas to put on them:

bathrooms
dormrooms (maybe there might be a difference between boys’ and girls’ halls?)
dorm kitchens
dorm rec rooms/living rooms
public bathrooms (for those with no shower-related events)
laundry rooms
cafeteria/dining hall
gym/locker rooms
classrooms
computer labs
library

we really don’t have any other buildings besides that, since our campus only has 550 students, but feel free to suggest other places as well. Thanks!

How about on the individual lockers themselves? Would you be allowed to do that?
A greenhouse/ shed in the back, for gardening and stuff, or maybe even the staffroom.
Also, if you have a drama room, or a music room, those would be good.

I truly don’t mean to be a smart-mouth, but I’m afraid I have to ask . . . isn’t making and posting lots of printed flyers kind of contrary to a low-impact campaign?

@Jeruba I agree with you. We’ve tried to advertise this a while ago online, but ticket sales (and they’re cheap) were very surprisingly low. Most students at my school only seem to pay attention to flyers, so we’re gonna try that.

You need digital paper that can be rewritten as many times as needed. Sort of like a kindle only a lot thinner.

How about rice paper and edible ink? After the event, the flyer becomes a snack.

It’s impossible to have no impact. Instead, make your impact positive, i.e. sustainable, building biodiversity and soil, etc. And don’t get bogged down in focusing on consumer and lifestyle choices, it’s an environmental mirage.

well, guess there was no point in asking this question. T_T

You’re not getting answers to what you actually asked, are you? It’s frustrating when people don’t read the details.

yeah, i just think I didn’t phrase my question right. I decided not to make flyers though. Whoever comes to the talk will come.
