Is Cinco de Mayo an insane day for a laid-back first date in NYC (Manhattan)?
I’m in the process of setting up a first date with someone I’ve been communicating with on a dating site. I suggested getting drinks at a specific restaurant on Thursday, without thinking about Cinco de Mayo. She said that day would work well for her, but she pointed out the holiday.
It’s a fairly popular French/Tunisian bar/restaurant (not upscale), so I wouldn’t expect it to be a particular draw for Cinco de Mayo, but I’m fairly new to NYC so I don’t know how crazy the crowds get. I would be walking there and she would probably take the subway from Queens.
Basically, my question is: considering that Thursday would otherwise be a good day for both of us, but that I’m aiming for thoughtful, relaxed conversation over a couple drinks, should we push it back to the weekend just because of the day?
