@Kardamom Haha, well it’s a kids’ movie, and the camera work was made in a way so that you see it as ’‘little people’’ see things. Mostly from heights, or lack thereof, but there were some other things I can’t quite pinpoint anymore cuz I’m too old.
The movie is very well made when it comes to engaging your perspective, but kids have a lot of imagination, so that doesn’t always work for the best. I mean, on a fun/scary basis of things to imagine based on content to start you off.
Particularly, the part where ET is escaping from those scientists near the beginning, and his heart or something is glowing red. You just see this red, flickering light speeding through tall grasses and stuff. I denno why but that freaked me the hell out. Also, that part where he’s hiding in a bunch of stuffed animals and dolls, and only his face is visible. I was all like, if I see that in MY stuffies when I go to bed tonight…gaah…and I hated how his neck elongated all of a sudden when he was excited and things. It gave me a nightmare about a little girl with a really thin, wrinkled up neck, and no eyes, just black sockets. That movie traumatized me lol.
