I mean to save time when you get a lot of answers, I want the ”@everyone else” to turn red just like the usernames.

That’s not a feature we have at this time, and I doubt it’s a feature we’ll get – especially since the turning into red makes it a link, but where would the link go if it’s everyone?

flo's avatar

@MyNewtBoobs yes there would be no link to go to. I might flag the quesstion.

@flo You can just type @all and everyone knows what it means – there’s just no link.

@flo there’s no need to flag your question, it can be useful information to some who still aren’t sure how that @ thingamagiggy works.

flo's avatar

@MyNewtBoobs it won’t turn red, that is the thing.
@AmWiser maybe I won’t flag it.

@all :: You could just wing it if making it red is a major concern.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@flo So? Why is making it red such a big deal? We can all see it even if it isn’t red.

@johnpowell Damn, how’d you do that?

AmWiser's avatar

@all ::
@all
Is this neat? Let’s see if it works for me.
Edited: Nope! Maybe @johnpowell will divulge his secret. Please.

jrpowell's avatar

I just made a normal link where the text was @all and the link went to the permalink of the first reply.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

No, that doesn’t work for me.

@y’all = ” + @ + y’all + ” (minus the pluses and spaces)

blueiiznh's avatar

hmmmmmm

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@everephebe Why is this not working for me? All I get is
@all

@everephebe excellant solution to the issue!!!! @y’all

She forgot to add in the link to the existing fluther question http://www.fluther.com/119985/how-do-you-do-everyone-else-the-answerers-you-havent-already/

krrazypassions's avatar

@all working perfectly well for the intended purpose!

as has been pointed out, just name the link as @all and put the url of the current question page.

Exactly how to do it? Use the text below. Just remove the space between : and h of http

” @all ”: http://www.fluther.com/119985/how-do-you-do-everyone-else-the-answerers-you-havent-already/

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@krrazypassions Ooooo. Thanks.

everephebe's avatar

@creative1 It’s exactly as @johnpowell said. I know I have done the @all before, it’s fun and you can link to anything.

@MyNewtBoobs strange. Can you link to anything else right now?
I mean it’s just slipping @all into the ” ”:

krrazypassions's avatar

Thanks is due to @johnpowell and @everephebe who have already answered before :)

krrazypassions's avatar

@all Hey, something anomalous is happening, when you yourself type it, it works well,
But if copy-paste it from my answer, @all doesn’t become a link, even after you have removed the space between : and h in the http,
right @johnpowell ?

jrpowell's avatar

I’m not sure if many people know about the permalinks so this seems like a good place to post them. Next to the ‘Flag as…” button there is a hidden paragraph symbol. You need to move your mouse over it to see it. That will give you a link to a particular quip within the thread. And if you hover over it long enough it will give you a timestamp like this. I wrote a greasemonkey script to always show them so that is why all of them appear in my screenshot.

krrazypassions's avatar

yes, thats right :)

Quite a useful feature, you can pinpoint the exact answer you are commenting on or referring to! Like, the link above points to the answer where @johnpowell told us exactly how to do it!

@flo Don’t you mean “Thanks @all!”?

:P

krrazypassions's avatar

@flo my pleasure! :)

To people who said why is it a big deal, my Q is about addressing everyone other than the 1 or the few that I have responded to in the thread not everyone when addressing anyone I don’t need to do anything, no big deal, no big deaal either way
