Here’s a list so you can poick depending on ambiance and type of food.

I called a friend of mine who lives on the Upper East Side, in the mid 80’s and she’s says there are a lot of great restaurants in that area, in the West mid-80’s, but couldn’t give a recommendation without a little more information, without some specifics. Any particular cuisine, style, type, ambience or price range you had in mind?

What I would be looking for is just a comfortable place with great food. If someone just has a cute place they like, that is what I would want. And thank you for calling—that’s very sweet.

@skfinkel I called my friend back and she recommended this place, Sarah Beth’s; there are several of them in the city but this one’s on Amsterdam and West 80th. She also said to have the chicken pot pie, “it’s to die for”; her words exactly. And it’s no bother to call her, she’s my best friend of over 30 years and we love to talk. :-)

@lillycoyote Thanks so much again. I have been to a Sarabeth’s on the East side, and that might be a perfect spot.

@skfinkel Oh, good, you’ve been to Sarabeth’s before so it’s kind of a “known quantity.” That takes some of the heat of off me. I always feel a little anxious when I make a specific recommendation to someone; though in this case it’s more like I’m channeling the recommendation, because if they don’t like the place I’ll feel responsible.

@lillycoyote Actually, if you are so kind as to recommend a place when I have asked, I would think that if I take your advice, it is completely my choice and not your responsibility. If you called me up and insisted I go to a restaurant—then maybe that would be a different story. But, even then, since I am the one who decides to go or not, I think you are off the hook. In any case, I just really appreciate you letting me know. It will be just fine. Thanks, again.
