I believe it was amazing music. The shit that they play today isn’t as good as it used to be. With the exception of a few bands.

It was just fun. I loved that stuff! Sorry, but that’s the most profound I am able to be at the moment on that subject.

I like a lot of music from that era, and not just the nascent rock n’ roll, but also a lot of the so-called “adult pop” as well.

In the mid-70’s, when I was a pre-teen, my folks brought home the soundtrack album for the movie American Graffiti and that’s the moment I became hooked on 1950’s rock and roll.

My formative years were during the 60’s so I love all of that stuff from The Beatles and The Stones and The Monkees and The Byrds and Donovan and Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin and The Animals and The Doors and Buffalo Springfield and The Hollies and The Beach Boys and Jan and Dean and The Surfaris and Herman’s Hermits and Simon and Garfunkel and The Association and The Mama’s and the Papas and the Kingston Trio and Astrud Gilberto. This Song and This Song completely conjer up that period in time for me.

I love 50’s music – especially the swing and jive stuff. My friends make fun of me for it ..lol.

For every Little Richard or Chuck Berry tune, you’ll find Mitch Miller or Pat Boone crap. Music in that decade changed almost as much as it did in the 60’s.

I love that era’s Rock, Swing (Louis Prima!) and Blues. I’ve very recently developed a taste for Lounge too and it’s not even ironic. I truly enjoy some of it.

For the most part I find it sedate, but there is the odd tune I really like.

Formularic inane fluffy nonsense. Seems it’s come full circle then.
I have to say however that i’m quite partial to a little slice of nonsense, some of that stuff was okay.

I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill and I loved it!!! Good stuff I think.

I love fifties tunes. Each song sounded totally different from the next and it didn’t depend on electronic noises to make a tune. Plus, you could actually understand the lyrics.
It didn’t make you nervous. You didn’t have to hold your ears to prevent damage. The slow songs were romantic. I can’t think of a thing negative about fifties music. Also, parents were never concerned it might be a “bad influence” on their kids and many of them enjoyed listening.

@Blueroses When I was a kid, I didn’t care for the loungey stuff at all, but now I really like a lot of it. I’m especially fond of anything by Astrud Gilberto (You know Girl from Ipanema) but this song by Julie London gives me goose bumps.
