I am considering improving my Spanish with online live language tutoring at a site like nulengua. Has anyone had experience with these kind of programs, and if so do you have any recommendations? Thanks!

It’s alot of fun, is all I can tell you! Just, try to watch out for foriegn creeps who try to tutor you. Thats a big problem.

I was considering teaching English through Skype. They have a whole section on their website devoted to that. But we started having trouble with it (Skype). I don’t want to charge someone, and then have trouble with the video.

I do remember that some teachers who were looking for new students would offer a free lesson to new students, which is what I was thinking of doing. I have since noticed there are many video conferencing programs out there (Juno.com even has one they advertise on their e-mail site).

I have experience at language exchange (www.conversationexchange.com) . It’s not like online tutoring, as it’s free, people from all around the world go to here to learn some languages and teach his/her native language. It’s fun and efficient. You can begin with searching partners, find an IM you prefer to, and then practice with your partners. Improve everyday!

Another suggestion, if I may have you tried looking for language exchange partners online? The one I use is www.languageforexchange.com

I’ve stopped considering teaching English over Skype, and now I’m actually doing it (yaaaay)! But I’m working with a company that provides all my curriculum. Lack of a way to properly assess a student’s language ability and progress, and a curriculum that would address individual needs is what kept me from branching out on my own.
