“Great Question” (0points)

I’ve been trying for days websites like Zamzar to change this less than 2 minutes video in m4v format to any of these, flv, mpeg, avi, wmv or mp4 format. Still no luck and I need to download the video badly to a website which accepts only those formats mentioned.

I took the video from a Nikon Coolpix camera bought 3 years ago and downloaded it to ( Mac OSX 10.5.8 ) iPhoto then went to iMovie and imported it. It comes out in m4v format when I try to download it from the website I needed it transferred. Your help would be a life saver! Thanks! : )

Handbrake will transcode from m4v to mp4.

@Lightlyseared Thanks very much. Thing is I read a post somewhere that he tried Handbrake and it crashed his system that is why I haven’t tried it yet. Of course it does not mean it will happen to me but if I may ask, have you tried Handbrake personally? How did it go? Thanks.

I’ve used it for years. I’ve always found it very stable.

Video Monkey is a fork of the old VisualHub. I prefer it over Handbrake for simple conversions.

I like Mediacoder and SUPER since I sometimes do things that Handbrake doesn’t want to. However, they are a little complicated and slightly overkill, so you may want to try Handbrake first and see if it works well enough.
