I’ve worked a bare minimum of ~55 hours a week since I graduated college. At the moment I’m working 40 hours a week at my full time job (with some OT here and there) and about 10 hours a week with a part time job (not counting drive time).

So for half of the week I usually work about 8.5 hours (counting lunch break). For the other half I work 12 (not counting drive time or lunch break).

My life is largely centered around work at the moment yes. I wouldn’t say I’m overjoyed with work or anything, but my full time job I’m content with (for the time being) and its hard to turn down the pay and benefits it gives me… And my part time job is extremely rewarding (tutoring an autistic boy), not to mention the pay is pretty good there too.

My work hours are flexible. As long as I do 40 hours in a given week, I am good. For instance: I could work 9 hours on Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thu and then I would only have to do 4 hours on Friday. It makes appointments and other to-do’s simple to get done. This is a very big reason why I enjoy my workplace.

I work from 0 to 20 hours a day. Not too many at the top and bottom of the scale but since I travel all over the world, I have some days with more than 24 hours in them so I could conceivably spend 36 hour continually working or traveling to work.

I have been tryingto cut back on my weekly work hours but I still have 280 hours of vacation to be used before Nov 1st and countless hours of comp. time, but no time to schedule the time off. I could probably take off the next year and a half but the customers would be pretty upset and it is likely that there would be nothing to do when I get back.

I “work” about 40 hours per week, but I am available longer because of the blackberry. I work 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (east coast hours but on the west coast) but get emails at 4 a.m. and as late as 8 at night, all of which I am expected to respond to if necessary.

At the moment I work six ten hour shifts, Sunday if asked, eight hours……. I try to have at least one weekend a month to myself….. Works work, it pays the bills I neither love it or hate it… I’m lucky to be earning an honest living :-/

Depends. After major projects I do absolutely nothing except play my guitar and write. My last project was 1.5 years, 60 hours a week, so I need a break…and I returned to Fluther..the best part.

I work outside the home for 35 hours a week. I am a parent every other hour as well.

All of them.

I’m at work 40 hours a week. I’m there doing actual work maybe a third of that time. Don’t tell my boss though ;)

Is your life centered around your work schedule?
Sadly, yes.

How many hours do you work?
10 hours a day, 6 Days a week. Unless I’m teaching too, in which case add another 5 hours a week.

Do you like / enjoy your workplace?
Yes, I just wish there was less of it. However, given the economy, I’m not complaining.

I work between 9 and 12 hours a day, depending on deadlines. I tend to come in late (9 am), work through lunch, and leave between 7 pm and 9 pm. I’ve had this kind of schedule for at least the last 8 years, and feel guilty about working a 40 hour week. If I leave at 5, I feel like I’m sneaking out. I refuse to work weekends.

I’m salaried, and haven’t had a raise in several years, despite great reviews.

You know, Americans work more and get less than anyother civilized country.

At least 28.

I’m at the office from 9 to 5 or 5:30 every day. I could take an hour for lunch, but I don’t. That would cut into my fluthering time, too much.

7–4 M-F and a few more at home if need be. Best part is I get to Fluther when ever the opportunity presents itself.

None.
But I am at school 3 times per week for two hours each day. That’s my job.

I am a home maker, so my work isn’t set out in hours, but I work from time to time throughout the entire day, from the time I wake up, tidy up, do laundry, wash dishes, make meals, and every thing in between, until I go to bed. I spend far more time on the computer/watching TV than I do actually working. Or is it called working when the washer is running, while I am on the computer?

When I’m working, 8–9 hours.

Bellatrix's avatar

About 8–10 a day. Sometimes (thankfully rarely, 12).

I try not to let my life revolve around my work but sometimes it does. My work has really busy times and then quieter times. I look forward to the quiet times when I can be more family oriented. I really do want better life balance.

10–15 depending on which day of the week it is. Last year I was averaging 72 hrs a week but year I’m down a touch, maybe 60–65.
