How many calories do I eat a day to lose about 10 sizes in 1 summer?

It’s impossible to drop ten sizes in one summer without literally killing yourself. If you want to go from a size 16 to a size six, that’d require you to lose about 80 lbs. That 80 lbs will only come off and stay off with a complete change of lifestyle, and there’s plenty on the web about that. Please don’t go on any extreme diets. You can do simple things like drinking water instead of something else, and going for a brisk walk every day.

Figure two pounds a week is a real good weight loss.

First off, you need to be realistic. Just remember, it took years to work your way up to a size 16. It’s likely to take a bit of time to work your way back down.

Loosing weight is all about your input vs your output. You need to have a calorie deficit of 500 calories a day to loose a pound a week. That means that you have to eat 500 less calories that you burn every day in order to loose a pound a week, which comes out to around 50 pounds a year. The good news is that you get to choose how to make up that deficit. You can either do brutal aerobics, or give up the cheesy poofs (as for me, I prefer giving up the latter).

So… if you keep up with a healthy weight loss plan of a pound a week and stick to it you should weigh around 160 by next summer.

You could probably do it in one summer, but it would be stressful. I don’t think you should be shooting for the mythical size 6. Eat healthy and just shoot for a healthy weight.

All the above responses are dead on. Also you didn’t indicate how tall you are or gender (but I am guessing female due to the size ranges). If you are 6’4” your ideal goal weight is different than if you are 5’2”. Best strategy is slow and steady, increase exercise and decrease caloric intake. If you go much below 1200 though, you can accidentally trick your body into thinking it is starving and it will hold onto what you eat and you won’t lose.

In order to even come close you need the right body type that can handle being a size 6 is the first thing, you need to be realistic. Then you would need a diet something like the Biggest Loser Diet and Exercise plan I found a Link where it was analyzed, however you need to do the exersising as well. That is running and lifting weights, I find a trainer for that part. My Y offered a free trainer for 12weeks when you joined.

Your wish is unrealistic as people have mentioned above. How many years did it take to put on the weight you want to take off? My husband has taken off close to 100 pounds in the last 4 years. He’s nearing his end goal. How? Lots of salads with non fat or low calorie dressings. Lots of fruit. No alcohol. Small amounts of meat. Nothing fried. Fewer starches. No sweets. He’d lose; then plateau for a week or two while his body got used to the new weight. He can’t walk, so he didn’t do any exercising; just controlled his food intake. The desire to lose has to be stronger than anything else on your mind. It’s really hard, but reaching that goal is a very proud moment. What will happen if you DON’T take the weight off?
