I was just wondering if it does work because I have like, 10 floppy drives and loads of floppy disks, so it would be a cool way to get rif of some of them. Does this trick really work?

You did just see the question about illegal topics being removed lately, I’m sure of it.

Anyway, is it the new or old version? The original author has stated that he was not only politically lacking savvy when he wrote that, but that several of the designs for weapons in there just don’t work right and can’t be relied on. I wouldn’t count on it to work “safely”.

I’ve seen it in a couple places and the newer version 1999 or something

anyways, even though the anarchist cookbook is bannes in the states (not sure about here in canada—I read it more for the regalia, and the history behind it. I came upon this and always wanted to try it on my old computer for kicks.

No, it does not. Practically nothing in the Anarchists’ Cookbook actually works. The authors have publicly stated (including in my edition of that book) that none of the “recipes” for bombs or other dangerous or illegal items actually work as stated.

If you want to blow up your old computer, I can assure you that it already has the right bits in it to make that happen; but I’m not going to tell you how to do it because that would be wrong and stupid as well as illegal.

@koanhead well I already have a couple ideas, but I was really hoping that I could burn a floppy drive or two. oh well.

Oh, there are ways. If you know enough about chemistry, you can burn just about anything; I know I personally have ignited quite a few things that most people wold consider non-flammable. However, as @koanhead states, it would be wrong, stupid, and illegal to say how.

What I can say is that if you don’t know what you are doing (or if you do know and merely do it wrong) you can fuck yourself up pretty good, cause lots of property damage, and maybe get people killed. A buddy of mine go the mixture wrong on some homebrew stump remover. The resulting fire was four alarms. Fortunately nobody was hurt! And @koanhead can attest to the fact that one of the things I have ignited is my own hands… more than once.

My advice to anyone who wants to experiment with explosives and such is 1) study a LOT before you start; 2) be Really Fucking Careful (or you’ll wreck yourself) 3) and perform your experiments in a place where you are the only one who can get hurt if something goes awry.

Sad to say, I’ve violated each of these rules more than once. I’m lucky I still have most of my parts.

Well I don’t want an explosion but something akin to a fireball, some sort of burst of flame, just for show.

Umm… yeah… about that….

@jerv I love how he goes blithely dancing down the stairs with his head on fire. That is a wonderful image.
However it’s kind of ruined by the fact that he was severely burned in his face and scalp and may have suffered brain damage as a result. As a matter of fact, I’m pretty sure he did suffer such damage, although I have no proof.
It’s entirely possible that all of Jacko’s weirdness and creepiness in subsequent years is entirely caused by brain damage due to PepsiCo’s negligence in hiring a pyrotechnical engineer who fucked up.

@XOIIO, make damn sure you know what you are doing. Ask me first; I promise you can count on me to tell you when you are full of sh{that which causeth the grass to grow green}

I think you should recycle your old stuff. there’s plenty of precious metal in a PC that has been dug out of the ground using slave-like labour in certain Africa countries as well as damaging the natural environment. Least you can do is have some respect. Just light a match if you want to see fire.
