It looks like a baby pineapple except the leaves have barbs on them and it more of an orange color.

Could be a jackfruit, a foul-tasting Asian fruit. Where’s the picture of it?

I don’t have pick. I bought it at the store (they didn’t even know what it was).

I just looked up jackfruit. It’s not that.

I would say… Don’t eat it. Plant it in a pot indoors & see what happens. Why did you buy it?

psyla's avatar

It could be a Pachypodium Rosulatum. There’s no telling without a pic.

Ya don’t need a pic. It’s looks like small pineapple, but it’s orange-yellow and the leaves on top have spikies on the sides.

a rambutan?
I don’t think this is it after i just saw what you said above. ^^^
Sorry.

It’s a kind of pineapple. Chop it off on the fruit, just below the crown of the leaves. Leave a bit of the fruit attached to the leaves. Plant it indoors with just the fruit part & the stem that leads to the leaves underground. Eat the rest of the fruit & you’ll see it tastes like pineapple. Water the plant & keep in bright sun. You’ve found a rare type of pineapple that’s worth growing indoors. A new orange pineapple will grow at the crown of the leaves. Small but rare.

Yeah I always wanted to do that. Do you think I keep it outside? I live in San Diego where it is always warm and sunny. I’d have to water it though.

psyla's avatar

Yep, you can leave it outdoors in the summer in San Diego, but bring it indoors for the winter.

Thanks psyla.

I’d still like to know the name of variety if anyone can find out.

Google varieties of pineapples.
