Not the most recent of my perception changers, but I do consider this my biggest one, was after I read the book, The Last Lecture. That book truely changed my perspective on life itself.
Before I read that book, I would let people critcize my dreams, and tell me I need more “realistic” goals. I would honestly cry when I was younger because family members would laugh in my face about me wanting to be a professional football player.
After I read that book, and saw how Randy Paushce didn’t let people shatter his goals, it gave me a new perspective. I looked at life quite a bit more positively. That book helped me realize that if I want to do it, I will, and no one will stop me, except for myself.
“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”
— Randy Pausch (The Last Lecture)
That was my BIG perspective changer.
