GIRLIES: What's it like to feel girly?

“Great Question” (3points)

This question made me wonder.

So, you’ve girled all up with your shoes and shaved legs and cute dresses.. How would you explain the resulting sensation? Is “girly” the only way to define it? Could you elaborate?

It’s only complete if I talk major smack about the woman that walked by me with the ugly outfit on, for 10 minutes straight.

On the rare occasions that I go for girly, I tend to feel pretty, confident, and desirable. Lately, I’ve felt a touch seductive, as well (the wonders of actually being with my man).

Well, girly. I clean up pretty well and sometimes enjoy the surprise of people who aren’t used to seeing me out of my work clothes.

It would depend on the feeling I was going for.
If I’m dressed to the nines in a killer dress, I feel seductive and powerful.
If I’m dressed in a fun print shirt, jeans or shorts and sneakers, I can feel playful.
If I’m dressed conservative and neat, I feel confident, and sharp.
If I’m dressed in silky pjs, I usually feel soft and smooth.
In all the styles, I feel girly.
The only time I feel the all of the above is in the shower and not alone. :p

Oddly aware of my femininity. I shaved my legs and wore a dress and heels to a fancy dinner party a few weeks ago, and I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. It made me notice what everyone was wearing and try to puzzle out what they were trying to say by wearing that outfit. It’s a weird feeling. (And what is up with the word “girlies?)

I don’t really subscribe to the concept of ‘feeling girly’. I might partake in things generally considered by society to be feminine – wearing dresses, spending a lot of time on my hair and makeup, crocheting – but I’ve never experienced a moment where I thought “wow i am so girly!” I think the term is pretty limiting. There’s nothing I would say is a strictly girly thing to do.

I’m the sort of girl who would live in footy shorts and thongs if I could, but on the rare occasion when I do get dressed up girly, it’s like a whole new me. I feel confident and ready to take on the world. Makeup, hair done, legs shaved, cute dress and some strappy heels is the way to go. (:
