On Facebook, how do I remove someone as my "family member"?

“Great Question” (4points)

When I first joined Facebook 6 years ago, my “family” consisted of mostly friends that sent me a family request to be my “sister”/“brother” etc. Well now, its still like that, but with actual family members as well. The point is, its 6 years later, and I find that its childish and unnecessary to list someone as your family member that isn’t actually in your family.
So, my questions are, how do I remove them as “family”, and will they get a request saying that I removed them?

go to “edit profile”
on the left side bar, go to the tab that says “friends and family”
you can edit there as you wish. :)

@Carly
Thank you!
Will they see that I removed them?

it won’t give a notification, but you can do what I did: I hid my entire friends list, so NO one can see ANY of my friends except me :P

@Glow is right, they wont get a notification, but they will be able to see on your page if they have a special title or not unless you “hide” all your friends from your public profile.
