It’s from a line in There Will Be Blood.

It’s originally, “I drink your milkshake!” From the film There will be Blood which was used as a metaphor to say that I’ve taken everything away from you and to show how cruelty trumps meekness.

I always thought it was from this. In this instance I am glad I was wrong.

@everephebe & @King_Pariah
So in There Will Be Blood, why do they say it?
Can you explain it a little better please?

blueiiznh's avatar

I hate it when THEY drink my milkshake. My god, is there nothing sacred anymore!

Leave my GD milkshake ALONE!

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@johnpowell It’s not because of that? I thought that too.

everephebe's avatar

It’s the final scene of the movie, if you want to spoil an excellent piece of cinema for yourself.

@blueiiznh Sounds like a first world problem ;)

@everephebe
I doubt i’m going to watch that movie anyway.. and that sounds right, in a excellent piece of cinema it says We. Drink. Your. Milkshake! in it.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

I always thought it was because my milkshake brings all the jellies to the yard…

Tay122's avatar

@everephebe
If you say so….. ;)

That final scene was great, too bad I didn’t watch the rest of the movie beforehand lol.

I thought that it was over-rated – like Daniel Day Lewis.

Backstory on the milkshake line; (source )

“The line in the final scene, “I drink your milkshake!”, is paraphrased from a quote by U.S. Senator for New Mexico Albert Fall speaking before a Congressional investigation into the 1920s oil-related Teapot Dome scandal. Anderson was enamoured of the fact that a term like “milkshake” found its way into such official testimony, to explain the complicated technical process of oil drainage to senators.”

@zen
Ducks more like dicks.. lol that was off topic.

@gailcalled
Finally.. somebody who can actually go one step further and EXPLAIN what it was!!
Thank. you. god!
lol thanks

Here’s the exact quote from Fall’s testimony: Source.

“In explaining oil drainage, Fall’s way of describing it was to say ‘Sir, if you have a milkshake and I have a milkshake and my straw reaches across the room, I’ll end up drinking your milkshake,’ ” Anderson {director of the movie} says. “I just took this insane concept and used it.”

@gailcalled
Thanks again.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

Wow. I’ve always wondered about that too, to the point of being annoyed at having to read it everywhere so thanks to @gailcalled I know. I saw the movie but I don’t recall that line at all.

AshLeigh's avatar

I don’t know. It makes me smile though. :)

I don’t like Daniel Day Lewis. Mostly because he knocked up Isabelle Adjani and ditched her.

Blackberry's avatar

Ok, I watched There Will Be Blood, and it was an excellent movie.

Hahahaha, I asked this same question once without the expletive. Fluther needs an introduction – or do they have one and we missed it?
