Why are some auto repair shops able to get away with being so dishonest and shady?
First, they charge ridiculous amounts for parts and manual labor.
How do they get away with charging you for repairs they never did in the first place?
How do you know they’re using a new part instead of an old, used one? Then they have the nerve to charge you for a new part.
Last, shouldn’t you be able to get a refund if the problem was not fixed when you got your car back?

Because they can and the odds are in their favor that you know more about crayons than car parts.
Sue ‘em. And for the hassle, try and get them to pay for your legal fees.
People need to take some basic auto mechanic class. Many mechanics prey on the ignorance of the average consumer. Almost everyone drives but knows nearly nothing about the car. Education is the solution.
You roll the dice. If you take your car to “Fred’s Garage” and they seem to work cheap you get what you pay for, sometimes more. If you go to a real car dealer they will use factory parts, they have a reputation to uphold but the downside is they are going to tear you a new asshole with the bill. You get what you pay for. Try to find a repair person somewhere in the middle of those two examples.
