If you are going to use a wholesale booking agent like Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, or priceline, PLEASE do not be a fussy hotel guest, and don’t expect the ocean view or the best rooms in the house. You are paying a discounted price. Also, if you are pissed off at a mistake that the wholesaler made, and it’s not the fault of the person at the front desk. Please don’t take it out on them. If you need special accommodations, you should call the hotel directly with plenty of time ahead to make sure your needs can be met. Also, take hotel descriptions you find on wholesale websites with a big bucket of salt. If you have questions, call the hotel directly. Expedia, Priceline, etc. lie lie lie about everything. Make sure you compare prices with the hotel’s actual prices too. Quite often, (and I see it with Expedia the most) the “deal” prices are actually more than if you booked with the hotel itself.
Also, if you book through one of these websites, you are paying that company, not the hotel. The hotel itself can’t refund you. If you need to cancel, do it plenty of time in advance, and cancel with the company you booked with.
Also, please don’t assume you are entitled to ANYTHING.
OK… There’s my rant.
(I work at a hotel, in case you didn’t know)
