“Great Question” (2points)

I’m going to be doing Wwoofing while on a year long road trip. I’d love to hear some stories or tips from others who have worked on organic farms. Do you have a story to share?

@Simone_De_Beauvoir Thanks! I’m hoping it’s going to be pretty awesome. I’m going to be in such amazingly great shape too!

Are you going to be visiting any urban organic farms? If so, which cities?

<=== Is disappointed that Wwoofing is not some new weird sex act to google.

I looked into this a few years back and it looks really cool. Have you researched it a lot? There are testimonials out there and groups where people share their experiences with various regions. From what I read the vast majority of people who participated were really happy with their experience, as were the farms that took them in.

I have never wwoofed myself but had friends that wwoofed for a couple months straight. They had both good and bad experiences….they loved some of the farms, and others turned out to be a nightmare. Their worst experience was at a farm in western PA…they were living in a cabin in the back for about a month and suddenly the wife, who turned out to be bipolar, went crazy and was rude and stopped giving them dinner and…..they packed up and left in the middle of the night. But every other experience I’ve had from people I’ve met has been great…working on a vineyard in Italy was my favorite. I’ve heard really good things about South America wwoofing but I’m not sure what country you’re in. My friend also worked at a peach orchard in Colorado!!!!! AhhhhH! Do that!

@wundayatta I hadn’t thought about it. I’m going in a camper, so I’m not sure how that would work out.
@poisonedantidote you have the power to make it so. You just need imagination, and a camera.
@tranquilsea yes, I’ve been reading reviews of various farms, and I did find a forum.
@deni Sounds like a lot of fun, but I’m in North America.
