Just the bare minimum. Just function, and durability needed.

You could probably pick up a 13” black and white television at a yard sale for 5 bucks or less.

Craigslist, used.

I bought a brand new color tv 19” for $99 at Dollar General. It was made in China, but isn’t everything? I have had for three years with no problems.

My son gave me a 13” flat screen TV/Monitor for the kitchen. picked it up new for $119. at CVS.

Too bad I couldn’t get the cable into the kitchen, I ended up returning it.

Freecycle.org If you don’t see one posted just put a wanted post up and I bet in one day you get 3–4 offers for a free TV of that size. **CAUTION** very addictive and you will freak at what you see being given away….so far I have scored a 6’ leather couch in mint condition and a concert baby grand piano that plays and sounds incredible.

GoodWill has a ton of them for $5. You can plug it in and see how it works. Depending upon the store you can even return a couple of weeks later if something goes wrong.

@Cruiser: I am signed up to receive emails from my local freecycle and I am always tempted at the stuff I see! TV’s are definitely one thing you see a lot! Computer armoires (from the days not so long ago when a computer would require a whole piece of furniture) are another.

Thanks all. so many options for used, but how about for a new one from the Future Shops Best Buys, Dollar general, etc.
@jonh65pennington 3 years, is good.
It is for someone who doesn’t want to be bothered to look for another one if the used one they got stops working the few months,etc.
