Yes, it took me 2 months to read it earlier in the summer. Now I am just skimming to refresh prior to teaching it, but damn there is a lot of plot there! I’m afraid I’ll forget whether they go divorced or didn’t or some major plot point. My brain is fried.
Hard to tell when you haven’t given us your numbers. One very active day, I counted and found that I’d have gained something like 200 points if they were all worth 5 apiece, but I actually increased by only 15. It’s been a long while since I performed a check like that. But I do take it as a great compliment when this happens because it means that a lot of people have maxed out on points for me, and that is nice to know.
@Jeruba I had started counting but realized I didn’t want to indulge my competitive side. The question was asked more rhetorically as an expression of amusement (and a tiny bit of pique.) I’m sure many others have had the same experience.
This is why I come to Fluther. The level of intelligent discourse is very high, the topics are interesting and stimulating, capitalization is required, text speak is not allowed, and the moderation keeps us all civil.
And the farts. God, how I love the farts.
Wow, it really has been that kind of day.
@janbb I understand though, if I’m ever going to make it to 20k some of the people who don’t like me are going to have to put our differences aside and start sending some lurve my way. ;-) I haven’t been here much in the past couple of weeks but I’ve think I’ve been in a holding pattern at around 19500+ for about 6 weeks now.
@JilltheTooth And I have a cute dog!. Should I make my Lizzie’s puppy picture my avatar? That will help, you think? The only thing is that this is the only site where I really never change my avatar and @Jeruba found it mildly disorienting the two or so times I did change it and I don’t like to disorient her, even mildly :-).
@JilltheTooth Same here with you. I honestly don’t care that much, it’s just the milestone thing. I’m the kind of person who gets just a little more excited than I should when the odometer on my car turns over. :-)
Don’t do it, @lillycoyote! I love you just as you are.
If you’re after lurve, cultivating newcomers seems like a good plan, but typically they don’t know enough to award GAs. How many times have you seen a newbie’s Q receive a dozen helpful, well-thought-out replies that are all still sitting at zero a couple of days later?
@Jeruba Thank you sweetie! I love you just as you are too. If you were ever not Kate Blanchett I would find that more than mildly disorienting. So, don’t worry, I won’t, not just for you, but you were one of my major concerns, of course, but also because I think the “cute puppy” thing is kind of a cheap trick, just to get lurve, don’t you? Plus I would have trouble recognizing myself. :-)
Did you notice that I finally managed to put a dress with sleeves on her? That took some doing, I’ll tell you. But I was taking her outdoors in a fall landscape, and I didn’t want her to catch a chill.
@Jeruba No I didn’t! I bet she’s happy, though hopefully turtlenecks won’t be all the rage this fall, that could be a problem; but really, the weather is getting a bit chilly and that wine color really looks good on her and it’s quite a nice autumn color itself. And by the way, the earring are fabulous!
@JilltheTooth I didn’t mean you! You chose your avatar for good reasons. I meant for me, me using my puppy just to get lurve! Pimping her out like some cheap puppy lurve whore.
Bedazzle her collar and leash or actually Bedazzle the dog? She won’t even let me clip her nails, I doubt she’s put up with being Bedazzled for even a nanosecond. We could try a mullet on her, maybe. Plus, she’s actually 7 months old now. The cute puppy would be kind of a bait and switch. The could make for some very angry johns.
I knew that cheap-trick cute puppy remark was going to start a fight! @JilltheTooth, she didn’t mean you, honest. Your puppy is all cuteness and no cheap. >> smooch << to both of you. There.
@lillycoyote, I already tried for a turtleneck and gave up. If I have to use one, I’ll do it with this photo—same occasion, same off-the-shoulder gown, but different pose.
