My brother in law currently lives in a home built from a log cabin kit. It is quite nice.
There are, however, a couple of gotchas to consider.
1) Insulation. What you generally get with a kit is just the logs that from the basic walls.
2) Electrical conduits. Basically you are talking about solid logs that make up the walls, which doesn’t leave a nice hollow through which to rout your wiring.
To solve both of those problems you can put up an interior wall to hold insulation as well as electrical conduits. Of course, that kind of runs counter to the whole log cabin look that you probably generally want to begin with.
