I am not clear as to the reason this girl was in the office. Perhaps it was in reference to being pulled out of class because of said shirt? Depending on the state/school you were at, I would question whether there was a dress code. Anyone in the district has a right to speak with the principal/superintendent/school board. What do I think of an underage girl wearing this? Tacky, inappropriate at school, and disrespectful not only to those around but to herself. In addition, if she was 18+, and in school as a student or on some other mission, again, tacky, inappropriate at school and disrespectful not only to those around but to herself. Anywhere else, EXCEPT in a business atmosphere (including church) would come under the category of “whatever floats your boat”. If one wants to portray themselves in a manner that is not satisfactory to the bystander, the bystander has to look away, because people will do what they want to…..and who has the time or energy to waste on something like that? I love the reference above from Dr. Lawrence….“jerks and fools”- yes! You will certainly see them lurking in the shadows! What would I do about it? Keep my children in check – as simple as letting them know what is not acceptable. I feel that children, given respect by their families, will grow up being respectful. Not all…..but enough of them to make the difference.
