“Great Question” (1points)

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Phantom of the Opera, a special fully staged production was put on at the Royal Albert Hall in London, with live screenings on the Sunday night’s performance being broadcast around the world. (I think it even broke some records for this…)

I was just wondering if any fellow jellies were watching too (and if so what you thought of it)?

I went to see it at one of the cinema screenings and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have recently seen Ramin Karimloo who played the Phantom in Love Never Dies (also playing the Phantom) in the West End. I thought is performance was incredible. It was also nice to see Michael Crawford make an appearance at the end.

I don’t care what anyone says, when Lloyd Webber comes up with a winning formula he is a musical genius.

It was lovely to see Michael Crawford on there wasn’t it? And he was so emotional, bless him. The songs at the end were a great bonus to see.

Did you notice the change in words in Think of Me? Did it bother you at all?! (I’ve since found the original v alternative lyrics online so I can share it if you like…)

I got myself tickets to see the first preview of Love Never Dies, which was subsequently cancelled, and I haven’t made the time to try see it again yet… I do have the cds though and it’s good music.

It was lovely to see him. He comes across as being genuine and humble (unlike a certain Miss Brightman!!!) as does Lloyd Webber I think. Yes, he’s awkward but, as my Grandmother put it, “very ordinary”.

I have heard the newer lyrics before, I believe they used them in the film version that came out a few years ago with Emmy Rossum I may be wrong but lyrics in the film were difinitely different to the original West End production.

It’s such a shame that you didn’t get to see Love Never Dies before it closed but it is coming out on DVD apparently (no doubt in time for Christmas!!!) and I can’t wait. I think it may be one of the most underrated shows I have ever seen.
