More rpgs for psp. Easier to exchange the Nintendo games. You just go to the shop ans exchange your game for another ^^

DS definitely. It has WAY more RPG’s than the PSP. PSP has many decent ones, (Jeanne d’Arc being a masterpiece if you ask me, plus it has Persona…) but nowhere near as much as the DS, and a lot of its library are ports. That’s not a problem if you’ve never played them…but the DS has a much larger library of both ports and originals. (and most of the DS RPG ports you’ve never played, unlike the PSP, which seems to love SE) That’s why I got my DS in the first place…and I got it back when the DS Lite didn’t exist. I’d go for that. You’ll be swimming in RPG’s.

Second vote for the DS. I’ve had both, and ended up trading in my PSP because of its limited library. Although I still have my DS, I haven’t touched it in years. I’ve unfortunately had a falling out with portable gaming it seems.

DS has more games so you’ll have more variety to choose from. With PSP, you’re fairly limited in game choices.

While the Nintendo has a bigger library, I have to say that neither if them compare to the a320 or the GP2X Caanoo

The a320 is more retro (NES, SNES, GBA, Sega Genesis, or Neo Geo) while the GP2X has a lot of emulators, including PC though, admittedly, an older one. While both are decidedly for retro-gaming, you really can’t beat the library size :D

I’m inclined to suggest DS. Especially if also considering JRPGs, in which case DS wins hands down.

Cool guys thanks. Now I am wondering since i don`t know much about this- Are there free games to download for DS like the apps in an Iphone? Like you access a library of games and download free ones?

Also, can 3DS play Dsi games? I just noticed there is an existing 3DS, so now i wonder which should I buy. Is there a drastic difference between the two?

@robdamel Nope, no free games to download. However you can download games by connecting to the DSI shop. Check here for more info on that. You need Nintendo points or something, which I assume you purchase.

And no, the 3DS isn’t backwards compatible with other DS games. I wouldn’t suggest getting one of those though…it’s a complete failure, and the handheld is full of bugs. I’ve never heard of any game system that won’t shut off…although they may have released fixed up versions. But from what I hear tell, it’s Nintendo’s biggest mess ever.

@Symbeline wow, I mean the simple idea that it cant play all those DS games someone might have definitely limits its potential.

Sigh, I decided I wont get either. I`m gonna save money and just go ahead and play Baldurs Gate. Never played it before and I heard its a fantastic rpg.

@robdamel Yeah, it sucks that the 3DS, which has an extremely tiny library, can’t play the masses of other DS games.

You mention Baldur’s Gate…I’m now wondering what kind of RPG’s you like? If you like stuff like BG or D&D oriented games as opposed to Final Fantasy and JRPG’s, the DS may not be a good choice after all…it has TONS of RPG’s yeah, but most of them are JRPG’s.

Although if you ever do get one, make sure to try out Dark Spire. It’s a modernized wireframe RPG, really pretty and fun.

@Symbeline haha yes, good call. I did some research after the posts and I found that the RPGs on the PSP suite me more (although i definitely like JRPGS). Moreover, Big fan of Final Fantasy.

Now what I was really looking for was a Fallout 3 or Dragon age Origins on a portable device. I wouldnt think twice and buy the portable device just for either of these games.

As far as I know, there are no portable versions of either of those games. The PSP and DS mostly stick to last generation standards when it comes to RPG formats, where the most you can do ’‘online’’ is trade stuff or fight friends. (or whatever pets you both trained XD)
